Terms of service
Last updated October 7, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the individual based in New York, USA who runs WiFi Doorman ("we", "us"). By using WiFi Doorman you agree to them. If you use it for a company, you agree for that company.
What WiFi Doorman does
WiFi Doorman connects to a UniFi controller and helps decide which devices may use a network. New devices wait for an answer; owners can allow or block them, often right from a notification. It changes your network only through the controller's own blocking feature.
Accounts
- You sign in with a link sent to your email, or with Google. Keep your email account secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- Owners manage a home: devices, settings, people and the plan. Family can allow, block and rename devices. Installers manage the homes on the controllers they connect.
- The demo is for trying the service. Demo homes are pretend and are deleted after 24 hours.
Installers
- Only connect controllers you're allowed to manage, and only invite owners for networks you set up or look after for them.
- You're responsible for the API keys you add and for opening network access to our server. You can remove a controller, or delete its key in UniFi, at any time.
- If you set your own prices, your clients pay your Stripe account directly. You're the seller to them, and you're responsible for your own pricing, taxes, receipts, refunds and support under your agreement with Stripe. We receive our base price as a fee.
Plans and payment
- Each home gets a 14-day free trial. After that, the owner chooses a monthly plan or a one-time licence for that home, at the price shown when buying.
- Monthly plans renew each month until cancelled. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the paid month. Switching a home to one-time ends its monthly plan without a refund for the rest of that month.
- One-time licences cover that home for as long as WiFi Doorman runs, and aren't refundable, except where the law requires.
- If a home isn't paid for, protection pauses: nothing new is blocked or unblocked, and existing blocks stay as they are in UniFi. Paying turns it back on.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices include any tax unless shown otherwise.
Please understand the limits
- WiFi Doorman reduces unwanted devices on your network, but it isn't a complete security system. Devices can change their addresses, and a controller can be offline or unreachable.
- Blocking or allowing a device can disconnect it or let it join. Check before you block devices people rely on. Installers can mark devices like routers and servers as never blocked.
- Protection may pause on its own as a safety measure, for example if lists change unexpectedly or many devices would be blocked at once. That's on purpose.
- Notifications depend on your phone, your browser and push services we don't control, and may be late or missed.
Acceptable use
Don't use WiFi Doorman to access networks you aren't allowed to manage, to interfere with other people's networks or devices, to overload or attack the service, or to break the law. We may suspend accounts that do.
Changes and ending
- We may change or improve WiFi Doorman. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell account holders by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
- You can stop using WiFi Doorman at any time and ask us to delete your account.
- If we ever shut the service down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice, and refund any unused part of a monthly plan.
Warranty and liability
WiFi Doorman is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the affected home in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Disputes go to the courts located in New York, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.
